I started to read this book last saturday while sunbathing in the garden, after the first few pages I find myself completely taken by this gothic style thriller and I only put the book down when I reach the end of it.
Unfortunately by them I was embarrassingly sunburned and although it wasn’t pleasant I still loved the book.
Tarantula by Thierry Jonquet is the tale of Richard Lafargue, an eminent plastic surgeon haunted by dirty secrets. He has an operating theatre in the basement of his chateau and keeps Eve, his partner, imprisoned in her bedroom. She is only allowed out to accompany the doctor at cocktail parties or perform sexual acts with strangers while he watches through a one-way mirror. Two other story are part of this book and with an incredible twist the author will join them together at the end.
Described as “an unholy collaboration between Sade and Sartre” and ” a story that invites both respect and repulsion. As a reader, you are happy to have read it and just as happy, ultimately, to close the cover on it’s weird world.” be ready for this dark and twisty book.
